London Broncos will stay overnight in Cumbria ahead of this weekend’s crunch Betfred Championship game at Whitehaven.
The squad will leave the capital tomorrow and stay on the outskirts of the Lake District to prevent a 12-hour plus round trip on the day of the game.
Skipper Will Lovell has thanked the Broncos’ fanbase and loyal sponsors whose continued support has ensured the club can provide players with the best pre-match preparation.
Lovell said: “A long journey on a game day is never ideal. We’re extremely grateful to our sponsors and fans whose support means we can prepare for the match professionally by travelling up the day before.
“It’s the best preparation we could ask for. Whitehaven have some seriously strong players and we are expecting a tough test on Sunday.
“They are a club that is very proud of where they are from, and their supporters are always right behind them. They will use that to their advantage, and we need to be prepared to have all elements go against us.
“This game won’t be easy. Whitehaven made it difficult in June on our home patch and we will need to be ready to face an equally tough test.”
The Broncos travel to Cumbria still placed within the Betfred Championship’s play-off frame with 16 rounds of fixtures completed.
Whitehaven, meanwhile, have strung three wins together in recent weeks, promoting the club to seventh in the table – one place behind the Broncos.
After last week’s loss to Toulouse, Lovell said he and his team-mates are determined to put things right.
He added: “Toulouse wasn’t the result we wanted. We all had a long, hard, look at ourselves after the game to evaluate where we are at this moment in time.
“We debriefed the game and know the areas we need to fix up. Our full focus since then has been on Sunday’s game.
“We made errors against Toulouse, but we are professional players and know what we should be doing – it’s about applying that on game-day. Credit to Toulouse, they played extremely well.
“But right now, our pure focus is on Whitehaven and returning to winning form.”
