
A West Cumbrian borough councillor has been arrested and charged for being drunk and disorderly in public and obstructing a police officer.
Cumbria police said: “Officers of Cumbria arrested a 59-year-old man in the vicinity of Washington Street in Workington, shortly before 1am on Sunday.”
Allerdale councillor Will Wilkinson, of Duke Street, Workington, was subsequently charged.
Wilkinson, who represents St Michael’s ward on the borough council, has been bailed to appear at Workington Magistrates’ Court on September 3.
He declined to comment.
