Cleator Moor Celtic came close to being the first side to beat Bury AFC in the North West Counties League.
The visitors needed an 89th minute goal to earn them a 2-2 draw at Inglethorpe Park.
Adam McWilliam had given Bury the lead after 23minutes and it was an advantage they held at the break.
But two goals in a six-minute spell soon after the interval turned the game in Celtic’s favour.
Jay Wetherill equalised three minutes after the restart and then on 54 minutes Brad Tatton put the hosts ahead.
It eventually produced a tense finish as Celtic strove to hold on and Bury, urged on by their large following, finally got their equaliser a minute from time when Liam McDevitt found the net.
That point was enough to take Bury top of the League as main rivals Blackpool AFC had lost at Bacup Borough 3-2.
Celtic remain in 13th place but with a game in handoff most of the teams ahead of them – and a better goal difference than all but the top two!.
