A Carlisle school is to become an academy after a funding agreement was reached with Government.
The Department of Education has today confirmed that St. Cuthbert’s Catholic Community School will become an academy from September 1.
This means that the local authority will cease to maintain the school from this date.
Carlisle MP John Stevenson said: “I am delighted to have received a letter of confirmation from Rt Hon Gavin Williamson CBE MP informing me that a funding agreement is now in place for the school from September 2021.
“A good standard of education for our children is so vitally important and I am in full support of the headteacher and governing body in their efforts to use every opportunity to raise attainment and sustain improvements to the school.”
