Penrith’s Aldi store will close for eight weeks from next month for a major extension and revamp.

The discount supermarket, on the Castle Retail Park, off Cavendish Way, will close at 8pm on Saturday September 4 and reopen on Thursday October 28.

The firm said it will extend into the retail unit next door so it can create a larger shopping area for its customers.

An Aldi spokesman said: “We are delighted to be redeveloping our existing food store in Penrith, in order to provide our customers with a better shopping experience.

“It is not possible to keep the store open during this work, but we look forward to welcoming our customers back in October.”
