
The surge in popularity of football for women and girls has again been reflected in the number of entries for the age group competitions in Cumbria.
The Cumberland FA have just published the clubs taking part in the Cups as they prepare for the draws to be made this coming week.
Ten teams are contesting the Under-16s for girls:

At the Under-14s age group there are 21 teams represented:

Girls are also involved in the mixed competitions at the same age groups.
Certainly the success and publicity generated by the Women’s Super League has resulted in football being the fastest growing sport among girls and women.
Elwyn Evans went along to watch Cleator Moor Celtic play Bransty Rangers in an Under 11s game and produced a number of action shots.
It was a dominant display by Celtic but Bransty worked hard and never gave up in what proved to be a good game.
