Three people have been injured after a crash on the A66 in the Lake District.

Three people have been injured after a crash on the A66 in the Lake District.

Police are appealing for witnesses to a two-car collision at Bassenthwaite Lake at 11am today.

The crash involved a Ford Focus LX and Ford Focus Zetec.

The driver of the Ford Focus LX, a man in his late 70s from Keswick, suffered neck injuries.

A passenger in the vehicle, a man in their mid-70s from Whitehaven, suffered pelvic injuries.

The driver of the Ford Focus Zetec, a woman in her late 60s from Whitehaven, was treated for minor injuries.

The road remains closed in both direction between Bassenthwaite Lake/Thornthwaite turn-off and the Braithwaite turn-off.
