
Drivers are being urged to avoid the M6 this morning if possible after a serious collision has blocked the northbound carriageway at Junction 35.
The M6 northbound is closed between J35 Carnforth and J36 Crooklands.
Emergency services are dealing with the incident, which is understood to have involved two HGVs.
The northbound carriageway is completely blocked and lane three of the southbound carriageway is also affected.
There are reports of long queues on A601(M) and #A6 northbound approaching Pine Lake Roundabout (Carnforth) due to traffic diverting around the M6 closure.
Congestion almost to J34 on M6 and A6 congestion to Carnforth.
Weather in the area is very poor, police said, and added: “Please avoid the area if possible.”
