A new podcast is set to be launched, produced in Carlisle.
V.I Places, from Carlisle Sight Support, has been made possible by funding from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, in partnership with the National Lottery.
V.I. Places will present a series of podcasts featuring local people, many of whom have experienced sight loss, and who will talk about one of their favourite places to visit and spend time at in and around Carlisle.
Mark Costello, who is leading the project said: “The activity serves two purposes. Firstly, it’s about engaging with people with sight loss, giving them a platform to talk about a place of interest, which we think others will enjoy listening to.
“Secondly, it’s about encouraging and giving confidence to others to visit places locally, as one of the consequences of sight loss can lead people to become isolated in their homes.”
Carlisle Sight Support, also known as Carlisle Society for the Blind, operates services out of its resource centre in Brunswick Street in the city.
