
Six flood alerts are in force in Cumbria this morning.
People living on the coast of the county are urged to be prepared.
The flood alerts are in the following areas:
- Coast at Barrow in Furness
- Coast at Duddon estuary
- Coast from Gretna to Silloth
- Coast from Silloth to St Bees
- Coast from St Bees Head to Millom
High tide is forecast at 11.45am.
Flooding is possible two hours either side of this time.
Tides are expected to be higher than usual due to the forecast weather conditions during spring tides.
- Upper River Derwent, Stonethwaite Beck and Derwentwater
Derwentwater levels remain high following recent rainfall with water levels remaining high on the Upper River Derwent, Stonethwaite Beck, Derwentwater and surrounding watercourses.
Flooding is likely to continue to affect low-lying land in locations near the Upper River Derwent, Stonethwaite Beck and Derwentwater.
People are urged to avoid using low lying footpaths near these watercourses and asked not to attempt to walk or drive through flood water.
