Mike Graham heads for Deer Orchard to make it 3-0 against JJs (Ben Challis)

Deer Orchard cruised through to the second round of the Workington Sunday League’s President’s Cup with a clear-cut win over JJ’s.

The Premier Division side, currently joint leaders, beat their visitors 8-1 after the Division One side had chalked-up three successive League victories for a 100 per cent record.

But they were no match for the Orchard who scored through Mike Graham (2), Paul Williamson (2), Sam Wright, Kyran Bertram, Conor Cooke and Rob Cox. The JJ’s consolation was scored by Ryan O’Pray.

But Orchard weren’t the top scorers on the day. Sun Inn hit nine against Senhouse with Mally Graham and Shaun Smith each grabbing hat-tricks. Dan Pearson notched a brace and Richard Hudson was also on the mark.

Senhouse did score three in answer but no marksmen were recorded on the team sheet.

Dearham beat Blue Bell 4-1 in an all-Premier Division affair with Jack Brown and Jack Taylor each notching a couple. Carl Denver netted for Blue Bell.

Northside should have hosted Seaton Rangers but the visitors conceded after being unable to raise a team.

There were two games in League One when there were victories for Maryport Athletic and Sun Inn Athletic.

Maryport were 3-0 winners at The Junction with goals from Sean Boal,  Mark Barlow and Lewis Mattinson while the Sun went to Cockermouth to beat Highfield 2-0. Brad Williamson and Tom Beaty scored the goals.

There are no League games next Sunday as the action concentrates on the County Cup second round.

The ties are: Dearham v Mirehouse; Salterbeck v Blue Bell; Maryport Athletic v Glasson Gardeners; Lowca v Sun Inn; Sun Inn Athletic v Northside; Royal Oak v Highfield; Thornhill v FC Cosmos; JJ’s v Senhouse.
