A man has admitted three offences relating to indecent images of children.

Jason Howell, 47, was charged with three counts of making indecent photographs/psuedo photographs of a child at Carlisle’s magistrates’ court today.

He admitted all offences, which took place on May 17.

The first offence related to five category A indecent photographic images of a child – the most serious category. The second charge involved four category B indecent images of a child.

The final offence involved 14 category C indecent images of a child.

“Making” an indecent photograph can involve activities such as opening an email attachment and downloading or viewing images on the internet.

Prosecutor Pam Ward told the court that following information obtained by police his home was searched and the indecent material was found.

It was explained that magistrates’ powers are insufficient to sentence Howell and he will next appear at Carlisle Crown Court for sentencing on December 7.

Howell, of Cambian Street, Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, who represented himself in court, will now have to sign the Sex Offenders Register.
