Cleator Moor Celtic moved out of the relegation zone with another tonic win in the North West Counties League.
They beat Pilkington 3-0 and are now fifth bottom, although heading on goal difference a clutch of four teams on 17 points.
Pilkington are fourth in the table and this was regarded by manager Martin Mahone as his side’s best performance of the season.
“We have been playing really well recently, and getting the results which we are capable of.
“I think this one was special because Pilkington had some good players in their line-up. One las had started with Man Utd and played League football and another won had won the FA Vase last year.
“It was fairly even in then first-half but we dominated after half-time and there was no doubt we deserved the win.
“To be fair to them they were complimentary to us afterwards about the way we had played,” said Mahone.
The first two Celtic goals came at exactly the right times.
Jack Hunter gave them the lead on 43 minutes when he headed home a corner.
Then three minutes into the second half Jay Wetherill continued his recent scoring run by thumping home another into the roof of the net.
It stayed that way until the 89th minute when Kyle Graham lashed a daisy-cutter home from 25 yards to seal the victory.
Celtic will be hoping to keep the run going on Saturday when they host Ashton Town who are only two points better off in the table.
They were beaten 2-1 at home on Tuesday by Daisy Hill, one of the teams level on points with Celtic.
