A man has been arrested after an incident in Coniston.

Cumbria police are appealing for witnesses following incidents in the Coniston area yesterday evening. 

Police are probing a collision on the A593 between Coniston and Ambleside at around 6.30pm involving a black Ford Fiesta and another vehicle. The driver of the Ford Fiesta, a man in his 30s, continued into Coniston following the crash, where a further incident took place, leading to a car being damaged and a man being struck in the face, suffering bruising. 

The driver of the Fiesta, a man in his 30s, was subsequently arrested and remains in police custody today. 

Police are appealing for witnesses who were travelling the A593 yesterday evening and may have witnessed any collision or erratic driving.   

Police are also keen to speak with the unknown woman driver who may have been involved in a collision with the black Ford Fiesta on the A593.
