Cumbrian pub group Lakeland Inns is the latest business to get behind the county’s new and independent food awards.
Lakeland Inns has been announced as the category sponsor for Chef of the Year at the Cumbria Food Awards, which will recognise and celebrate excellence in the county’s food and drink industry.
Lakeland Inns has five pubs across Cumbria: The Royal Oak in Curthwaite, Carlisle; The Sun at Ulverston; The Commodore in Grange-over-Sands, The Black Cock in Broughton-in-Furness and The Clarkes Hotel at Rampside near Barrow.
Kirsty Ridge, managing director of Lakeland Inns, said: “Cumbria has such a vibrant food and drink scene. The county is teeming with talent, and that is evidenced through the remarkable number of restaurants, gastropubs and eateries serving dishes of the very highest quality.
“To become a chef takes hard work, determination and a willingness to make sacrifices. As a business operating a number of kitchens across Cumbria, we see first-hand the endeavour and dedication required to be a success.
“It is our pleasure to be sponsoring this category of the Cumbria Food Awards – and we wish the finalists the very best of luck.”
Lakeland Inns is owned by business partners Kirsty and Scott MacKenzie.
It has a brewery, Lakeland Brewhouse, in Ulverston and Kirsty is North West Regional Director of SIBA, the Society of Independent Brewers.
