Workington Town’s goal-kicking ace Carl Forber has committed to another year at Derwent Park.
The 36-year-old half-back is among three players who helped Town to promotion who have re-signed for the club.
Matty Henson and Jake Lightowler have both signed new two-year deals while Forber – who will be 37 in March – has agreed to re-sign for 12 months.
Talking about Forber, Town coach Chris Thorman said: “Carl’s points-scoring feats need no introduction, but it’s his selfless behaviours, durability and his ability to be an extension of me on the playing field that made it an absolute no brainer to retain him this year.

“We always said that if his body felt good, then he’d go round again. I know he’s really looking forward to challenging himself in the Championship again.”
Former Egremont amateur, 27-year-old Henson had only turned professional from Egremont last November,
Thorman said: “Matty had a great debut season in 2021 and I expect him to be even better in 2022.
“Although he’s only been involved in the pro game for 12 months, Matty has a good head on his shoulders and has quickly come to realise what I’m looking for in a player.”

Jake Lightowler, 22, is a former Bradford Bulls and Newcastle Thunder forward who has matured at Derwent Park.
Thorman said: “Jake got better and better with every game he played last season and at the end of our campaign was a mainstay of our pack.“A very popular member of our squad who doesn’t take a backward step – I expect him to continue that improvement in 2022.”
