A 21-year-old man has been given a suspended jail sentence of 26 weeks after he carried out a “serious” and “unprovoked” attack on a woman and had a knife in his possession.
Connor Light appeared before magistrates in Barrow yesterday and admitted being in possession of a kitchen knife in a public place in Barrow without good reason or lawful authority between September 3 and September 4.
He also admitted a charge of assaulting a woman by beating on September 3 in what the court described as an “unprovoked attack of a serious nature”.
The court heard that Light was lightly convicted, demonstrated remorse and had shown a motivation to rehabilitate.
Sentencing Light, of Ramsden Street in Barrow, magistrates jailed him for 26 weeks, suspended for 24 months.
Light was also given a six-month curfew requiring him to remain at his home address between the hours of 7pm and 5am
