Marathon man Gary McKee has already brought in more than £30,000 for two charities before he’s even laced up his shoes for his latest challenge.
The 52-year-old Cleator Moor man is no stranger to tough challenges, completing 110 marathons in 110 days just a few months ago – raising £200,000 in the process.
Gary has been fundraising for more than 17 years and has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for two charities close to his heart: Hospice at Home West Cumbria and Macmillan Cancer Support.
From January 1 to December 31, Gary will complete 365 marathons in 365 days in an effort to raise £1 million for the charities.
Gary has already raised more than £30,000 from his latest challenge.
“I have been really well supported so far,” he said.
“I wear vest placard sponsors and so far we’ve sold 250, which is £25,000.
“It’s a great response to start with and it will always go further once you start running and when people see how you are doing people sponsor you and put on their own events such as cake sales and raffles.
“People also come with you and raise money themselves which goes towards my target.
“Over £5,000 has been raised on the Justgiving page.”
