Two young Cumbrian cricketers will be part of Durham’s academy set-up for next season.

Stanley McAlindon, a fast bowling all-rounder from Carlisle, and Max Winskill, a seam bowler from Ulverston, are included in a 13-strong squad.

McAlindon has extended his academy deal for a fourth year, while Winskill will play his first full season for Durham’s young guns after signing mid-way through last season.

Both 17-year-olds came through the Cumbria age group sides.

McAlindon now plays his cricket in the North East Premier League, recently signing for Chester-le-Street CC, while Winskill is at Lindal Moor CC in Cumbria.

John Windows, Academy director, told the club’s website: “Myself and the coaches are looking forward to what the next year holds for this exciting young group of players.”

Last season McAlindon, who is a former Carlisle junior, played for Durham 2nd X1.

Back in January 2019 Stan played his part in helping a talented Durham Academy side to Gulf Cup success.

He was a member of the 14-man squad which played in The United Arab Emirates, representing Durham in both the Under-15s and Under-17s age-group at the Gulf Cup, which is an annual junior competition, over the festive period.

In the Under-15 category, Durham fell to a last-ball loss in their quarter-final but came out on top of the pile in the Under-17s age-group as they beat Victoria Cricket Academy in the final.
