Workington will win the Northern Premier League West title without losing another game!
But Cumbrian neighbours Kendal Town will pick up only three points from their last 15 games and be relegated.
Before anyone chokes on their cornflakes, it should be emphasised these are predictions from a computer used by Football Web Pages to come up with the final table.
It’s all generated by goals predicted, goals per game so far, defensive strengths and latest form figures.
The results for all the remaining games have been predicted by the computer resulting in the final table which has Reds winning the League by three points from current leaders Marine.
It also predicts Kendal Town going down with 13 points, ahead of Market Drayton and some 11 points shy of Prescot Cables.
Workington will finish with 88 points, three more than Marine, who currently lead the West Cumbrians by four points. Leek Town (77), Clitheroe (76) and Warrington Rylands (74) complete the play-off positions.
The big game on April 16 at Marine is predicted to finish 0-0 while Reds final game of the season will be a 1-0 win at Market Drayton, already long doomed to relegation by then.
Going through the predicted scores the obvious weakness is that there are too many 0-0 or 1-0 score-lines and very rarely is a team expected to score over three times in a game.
Reds, who have scored in every League game so far, will only draw 0-0 at home to Glossop North End, according to the computer. Kendal Town will lose 2-0 at Runcorn Linnets.
Workington manager Chris Willcock said: “Predictions are like opinions – ifs, buts and maybes.”
The Kendal chairman Michael O’Neill was a bit more forceful: “If we only get 13 points I’ll retire from all forms of football.”
