Sunday’s Cumbrian derby at Derwent Park has resulted in a player from each side being suspended for actions during the game.

Workington Town forward Marcus O’Brien has been handed a two-match ban for a dangerous throw in the game.

Whitehaven forward Connor Holliday was given a one-match suspension for making a dangerous contact during the Ike Southward Memorial Trophy clash.

Town have no game until the start of the Betfred Championship when they entertain Newcastle Thunder so O’Brien will miss that game and the follow-up fixture at Widnes Vikings.

Whitehaven are in action tomorrow in their second and final warm-up game and Holliday will be able to play. It means he will miss the first Championship game at Leigh on January 30.

Further down the fixture list, Haven have agreed to change their scheduled Championship game at Newcastle on February 20. It’s now been moved forward 24 hours to Saturday February 19 with a 3pm kick-off.
