Kendal Town are looking to Eric Yahaya to recapture the scoring form he showed early in the season.
Yahaya has returned to Parkside Road after brief spells with Widnes and Lancaster City.
He made his second debut at home to Leek Town on Saturday and despite the 3-1 defeat it was an encouraging display by Yahaya and the Kendal team.
Early in the season Yahaya was the joint top scorer in the NPL West with six goals.
Chairman Michael O’Neill said: “Eric ticked boxes for us. He has scored goals at this level for us and he is mid-20’s which adds a bit of experience to a very young squad.
“We went to watch him at Lancaster, liked what we saw and were able to get him signed.”
Time is starting to run out for the Mintcakes as they 13 points adrift of safety but have not given up hope.
They travel to Kidsgrove on Saturday to take on a side who have come out of a long winless run with two good results.
They had only a point to show from eight matches when they beat third-in-the-table Warrington Rylands and on Saturday drew 3-3 at former leaders Mossley.
“Things have started to improve off the field through various initiatives and we are more hopeful going forward,” said O’Neill.
An indication of more interest in the club came this week with the announcement that then had received 20 applications for a scouting position at the club. They have all been invited to a meeting.
