Barrow’s new hooker Josh Wood reckons the best is yet to come from the Raiders even after four wins out of four.
They beat Workington Town and Newcastle Thunder in pre-season warm-up games and have followed up when it mattered in the first two Betfred Championship.
But Wood says: ““We’ve been doing pretty well, considering the conditions we’ve been playing in. I can’t wait for it to dry up so we can start shifting the ball around a little bit more.
“With the weather, it has meant we’ve had a lot of ‘one-out’ rugby, and it’s been a case of who wants it more.
“Confidence breeds confidence, and the mood around the camp and in training is really good.
“Everyone is buzzing, everyone is happy, so we just need to keep this winning streak going and we go again on Sunday.”
Barrow host Newcastle Thunder again and when they met in the pre-season game they produced a fine second-half performance scoring 22 unanswered points to win 34-22.
Newcastle have subsequently won at Workington and lost on Sunday at home to Batley Bulldogs while Barrow have started with victories at home to Sheffield and at Whitehaven.
What’s also a bonus for Paul Crarey is that the Raiders have conceded fewer points than anyone else in the competition.
Thunder, coached by Eamon O’Carroll and now a full-time outfit, visit the Matt Johnson Prestige Stadium this Sunday, with kick-off at 3pm.
