The JJ’s sponsored Workington Pool B league saw Chasers earn their first victory of the season.

They visited Lifeboat B and Chasers captain Shaun Stephenson gave them the perfect start by winning the opener,

Wins for Ryan Booth and Sarah Dawkins gave them a 3-1 lead.

It looked ominous when they were pegged back to 3-3 but Chasers went to the verge of victory by winning the first doubles.

The win was confirmed when Booth and Stephenson each scored their second win of the night to earn their side the 5-4 victory.

Grapes A kept their promotion hopes alive with their fourth victory in a row.

Visiting Packhorse B it was the Grapes’ Daz Birkett who opened proceedings with a win before they built a 4-2 singles lead.

Bruce Denwood and Dave Glasson earned Grapes the points in the second doubles for a 5-4 win.

Packhorses’s defeat gave Lifeboat A a chance to join them at the top of the B league when they visited Skinny Jimmys.

In a hard-fought, tight match Lifeboat had to win the final two frames for the 5-4 win as Scott Messenger and Dave Trainor secured the victory.

Cons club remain just two points off the top thanks to a final frame decider against the Miners which saw them win 5-4.

In the JJ’s Workington Pool A league, top v bottom saw JJ’s B host Station Rd B.

Despite JJ’s B giving the visitors two frames on fouled black ball pots the Station Road side couldn’t take advantage as Martyn Fisher and Geoff Banton took the final doubles frame to extend JJ’s B’s advantage at the top of the league.

Third-placed Grapes slipped-up against much improved Packhorse A who made it three wins in a row.

With the singles tied at 3-3 Packhorse A took hold of the match by winning the seventh frame which set-up Karl Newton and Lewis Tilley to win the match with a 5-4 final score.

Senhouse Street entertained JJ’s A in a battle for the top four and it was Senhouse St who took their chances to win 6-3 and are now tied in third place.

Finally, a Dan Hancox and Dave Edwards last frame doubles victory ensured Station Rd D defeated their club counterparts Station Rd C 5-4.
