Lynne Blaney and Kerry Stewart handing the iPads to Lorna Savage from the Loweswater Suite, with Luke Blaney, Jonathon Stewart, Phil McCormick and Arthur Lamb from Whitehaven Cricket Club.

Two iPads and Netflix vouchers have been donated to the Loweswater Suite at Whitehaven’s West Cumberland Hospital.

The money was raised at the Ged Blaney annual memorial cricket tournament and Kerry Stewart’s Just Giving fundraising page.

The competition is held every August Bank Holiday Sunday at the Whitehaven club and last year 24 teams entered with a side made up of club Under 15s and their dads claiming the title.

Runners-up were Kells ARLFC with Whitehaven RUFC winning the plate.

The Loweswater Suite at the West Cumberland Hospital is where Ged died in March 2015 after a two-year battle with bowel cancer.

The staff on the ward were incredible and so supportive of the Blaney family during a very difficult time.

The family made a pledge to repay the Loweswater Suite with things that can make life a little easier for the patients and their families during their hospital stay.
