Workington Reds have been left without a game again when this afternoon’s game at Ramsbottom United was postponed.
It means when they host Widnes next Saturday it will be the first time they have played since February 5, so will only have had two games in February.
To add to the frustration of manager Chris Willcock, his players and the fans the Reds don’t have a game the following week on March 5 either.
“The way the fixtutres have worked out for us has been a disaster. We can’t maintain momentum and it is so frustrating for everybody.
“I suspected on Thursday the game today would be off because the Ramsbottom pitch had been a real mess after last week’s home game with Clitheroe. When you factor in this week’s weather and the two named storms, then it was always going to struggle to be on,” said Willcock.
But Reds will end the day still top of the NPL West as their two nearest rivals, who could have gone past them with a win, were also sidelined.
Warrington Rylands, three points behind but with a better goal difference, were due at struggling Kendal Town while Marine, just a point behind, should have hosted Clitheroe.
Six of the nine scheduled games in the League were postponed this morning, leaving fixtures on the Astro-turf at Runcorn and Widnes, along with Leek Town.
