Workington Town coach Chris Thorman is looking for his team to build on an outstanding effort last week against Championship title favourites Featherstone Rovers.
Town follow up with another home game tomorrow against Halifax Panthers and Thorman is confident his squad of players have learnt a lot from their three games so far.
He said: “It’s a big step-up from League One and it was always going to be a question of how quickly the players learned to adapt to Championship rugby.
“I always had belief in this group of players and I think they showed against Featherstone that they have the right attitude and are learning all the time.
“Featherstone are rightly favourites to win the Championship. They have five times the budget we have at Workington, yet we ran them so close. I was a little disappointed we didn’t get even closer.”
There was a late cameo against Rovers from former Oldham winger John Hutchings, a player Thorman is using as a middle forward.
Unfortunately he left the field before the end with a hamstring injury which will keep him out tomorrow at least.
Hooker Evan Simons completes his recent suspension by sitting out a second game, with Stevie Scholey and Dave Weetman the only lone term absentees with injuries from last season.
The Town squad is: Barnes, Bickerdike, Brown, Clarke, Clegg, Dawson, Doran, Fitzsimmons, Forber, Lightowler, O’Brien, O’Donnell, Olstrom, Postlethwaite, Singleton, Steele, Teare, Thomas, Thomson, Walker, Young.
