Workington and District Sunday League’s programme was wiped out by the weather in the aftermath of Storm Eunice.
But two Workington League sides did make progress in delayed Sunday County Cup-ties, and both beat Egremont League opposition.
The top result belonged to Maryport Athletic who travelled to Cleator Moor to take on Mirehouse with the game staged on the AstroTurf pitch.
They went home with a memorable 3-2 victory against a good side, especially as they had a man sent off after 25 minutes and were living close to the edge through receiving four yellow cards.
Steffan Miller (2) and Ethan Weir scored the goals for Athletic who now await the draw for the County Cup quarter-finals.
They were joined by Salterbeck who had home advantage against the Royal Oak and came through the test winning 4-2.
Nathan Brash was the match hero for Salterbeck with a hat-trick and he was joined on the scoresheet by Logan Potter.
It means that the Workington Sunday League is assured of three representatives in the quarter-finals with four from the east of the county.
They could even have all four from the west as the final quarter-final tie which hopefully will be played next Sunday morning (10.30am kick-off) when JJ’s travel to Thornhill.
Other games next Sunday are: Premier Division – Blue Bell v Deer Orchard.
Division One: Senhouse v Junction.
Divisional Cup: Highfield v Sun Athletic; Northside v Salterbeck; Maryport Athletic v Flimby.
