Barrow players and staff have donated money to provide free spaces on the supporters’ coach for the game at Bristol Rovers tomorrow.
The Bluebirds Trust have been attempting to fill a coach for the epic midweek trip to The Memorial Stadium and now the Bluebirds squad and management have put their hands in their pockets to help.
“It was Ryan Sutherland who came up with the idea and the players and staff were on board with it straight away,” explained trust Chairman, Steve Herbert.
“It’s a wonderful gesture from the team and it just shows how much they appreciate the support away from home, particularly in midweek.
“I am sure that everyone who makes it to The Memorial Stadium on Tuesday will get right behind the lads again from the first whistle and hopefully it can spur them on to a positive result.”
Barrow manager Mark Cooper says his side will be under no pressure when they take on Bristol Rovers in their latest League Two clash.
He said: “People won’t be expecting us to get anything there so it’s a chance to go and play without any pressure and enjoy the performance.
“I don’t think there’s any doubt that we should have won on Saturday against Harrogate but as I keep saying – if we can’t win it, we don’t lose it.
“Apart from the first 20 minutes, I thought we handled them well and they never really looked like scoring after that.
“They are very dangerous on the counter-attack and that’s what we spent a lot of time on in training during the week. I thought we handled them very well.
“In the final quarter of the game we had our opportunities to win the game but unfortunately could only hit the woodwork. Even then Robbie Gotts, who had twice hit the post could have won it late on but shot over. He was gutted not to have scored that one but his overall contribution was excellent.”
Although he was able to get Josh Gordon back into the action Cooper says he still has a good number of players out of contention with injuries.
