People will be asked to have their say on proposed improvements for four play areas in Carlisle.
A series of consultations get underway on Friday.
Carlisle City Council is investing £175,000 over the four sites – Briar Bank, Esk Road, Morton West and Yewdale Park – and is asking people what play equipment they would like installed within the play areas.
From Friday, residents can find out more about the proposals by picking up a consultation leaflet at the Belah Centre (for Briar Bank and Esk Road play areas) and Yewdale Community Centre (for Morton West and Yewdale Park play areas) or at www.carlisle.gov.uk/consultations
The consultation closes on April 1.
Councillor Elizabeth Mallinson, portfolio holder for communities, health and wellbeing, said: “As part of this year’s budget extra funding was included for play area improvements.
“These four play areas are the first to benefit from this investment and have all previously been identified as in need of investment, either to completely refurbish the entire site or just to replace individual items of play equipment which have reached the end of their life.
“We’re keen to hear from local residents, schools and communities on what play equipment they’d like installed.”
Following the feedback from the consultation, a specification reflecting the preferences will be drawn up.
The city council said it had also set aside £40,000 within the play areas improvement budget for parish councils within Carlisle district in the form of small grants.
They will allow parish councils to complete existing planned projects or make essential repairs to their facilities. An invitation to submit applications will be sent to all parish councils in the district this week.
