A grinding win for Julian Plaza in the first was surpassed with aplomb in the second frame as team mate and former county champion Richard McCarthy constructed an excellent break of 70 to give Cons an early 2-0 lead.
Adding to the Vets pain it wasn’t long before Cons stalwart Alan Moore made it 3-0 and as Stuart Shepherd delivered another experienced Cons performance the score-line moved towards an inevitable whitewash at 4-0.

Stephen Jackson produced a classy 33 break in the third to pull one back and as team mate Bryan Walker won the next the golfers took the match into a decider.

A win was within touching distance and the Rack Shack’s Andy Moore could have been forgiven showing a little nerves, however in winning with room to spare he guided his team to an impressive victory.

The third frame proved to be key with Paul Smith trailing all the way to the final blue. A brilliant pot later followed by two equally superb bits of cueing enabled the Vets A player to nick the frame on the black for a 2-1 score-line.
Frame four was fairly evenly matched early on, but a 38 break later from Steve Garroway ensured the match victory was guaranteed as Vets A now led 3-1.
An error strewn beginning to the final frame saw Mark Suitor eventually take control and in improving significantly the United Club player earned an important point for the home side.
The United Club now lead Division Two by a margin of ten on 37 points while Vets A stay fourth in Division One on 35 points.

Gary Miller added another victory to his tally in the third to see Maryport pull one back, however Mike Walker converted in the next to assure Station A delivered the match win at 3-1.
