Makers and bakers needed for markets in Whitehaven

Whitehaven is to host a series of markets showcasing handmade food and crafts.

Creatives are being invited to take a stall at any of Copeland Council’s four Bakers and Makers events on April 23, July 23, September 24 and November 26.

Cakes, crafts, clothes, wax melts, jewellery and more will be on offer in the town’s Green Market and King Street.

Copeland mayor Mike Starkie said: “We are always looking to create ways to help businesses, large and small. They are the lifeblood of our towns and villages. These markets are open to sellers of all ages, and create a great platform for small businesses to sell their goods to a wider clientele.

“Our markets also bring in visitors, creating a bustling atmosphere and increasing footfall for the other shops in town. I hope everyone can manage to visit them this year and see the fantastic creative businesses we have in Copeland.”

The events follow a successful Bakers and Makers market in August of last year.

Stalls cost £16 each and the market will run from 10am until 3pm on all dates. Contact Jenny.brumby@copeland.gov.uk if you would like to take a stall.

The council is also interested in hearing from musicians and entertainers who might like to perform at the markets.
