
Reigning champions Furness will start the 2022 season with a home clash against South Cumbrian rivals Haverigg.
The fixtures for the new season have just been released and it promises to be a really competitive campaign, with several new and outstanding professionals joining the League.
In the Premier Division the top quartet from last year look as though they could be the Big Four again with Carlisle, Cockermouth and Keswick ready to challenge Furness for the crown.
The season will open on Saturday, April 23 and two of the leading sides meet at Sandair where Cockermouth entertain Carlisle. Keswick open with a home game against Dalton.
Egremont replaced Lindal in the top flight after winning the First Division title and they will start off at home against Wigton.
There’s also a west Cumbrian derby as Workington entertain Whitehaven while Cleator will start at home to Millom.
Carlisle probably have the toughest start for after travelling to Cockermouth they follow up on April 30 with a home game against Keswick.
The other games on the second weekend are: Dalton v Cleator; Haverigg v Workington; Millom v Furness; Whitehaven v Egremont; Wigton v Cockermouth.
The League season comes to an end on Saturday, September 17 when the fixtures are: Cleator v Dalton; Cockermouth v Wigton; Egremont v Whitehaven; Furness v Millom; Keswick v Carlisle; Workington v Haverigg.
There’s a hugely attractive first round tie in the Higson Cup on May 15 when Cockermouth entertain Keswick, a quick return to Sandair for last season’s pro Paul Hindmarch who has returned to Keswick.
The other first round ties are being played on May 2 – Carlisle v Haverigg; Egremont v Furness; Whitehaven v Cleator. The other four clubs have byes.
