A Kendal man has admitted stealing Champagne during the burglary of a house near the town.
Damage was caused and a quantity of cash stolen during the incident at a property in Old Hutton on June 23 last year, Carlisle Crown Court heard.
Appearing in the dock this afternoon was 40-year-old Michael Ronald Lomas.
During a short hearing in front of a judge, Lomas admitted one charge of burglary, having entered the dwelling as a trespasser and stolen items which included a phone, clothing and Champagne.
That guilty plea was acceptable to the Crown Prosecution Service, the court was told, given that the criminal damage caused and £100 cash stolen by Lomas during the incident would be included when the facts of his offending are fully outlined.
This will take place at the crown court on April 22 when he is due to be sentenced.
In the meantime, background reports will be prepared by both a probation officer and a doctor to provide the sentencing judge with all possible information before the punishment is handed down.
Until that hearing, Lomas, of Castle Grove, Kendal, was granted bail. This is subject to conditions that he does not contact two prosecution witnesses and does not enter Old Hutton.
