Whitehaven have had to make one change in their squad of 21 for Sunday’s home Championship game with Dewsbury.
Hooker James Newton missed last week’s Challenge Cup win at Doncaster but has recovered from his injury and comes back into the squad.
Winger Dave Eccleston picked-up an injury in the Cup-tie and misses out with the club’s medical staff closely monitoring his progress.
Coach Jonty Gorley was in a better frame of mind after the 60-0 Cup win at Doncaster, particularly when they had scored 48 points in the second-half.
Gorley said: “That was more like it and showed what we are capable of and do the basics. If we go set to set with our opponents we will be fine, but that is something we haven’t been doing.
“It’s about building pressure and that was how we can be effective and do well in this competition.
“There was a lot of lads who put their hands up and put in performances at Doncaster, so that’s going to give me a headache on selection but as a coach that’s what you want.
“If anybody isn’t 100 per cent fit on Sunday they won’t play. We had some in the squad at Doncaster who wouldn’t have played and I think we will have more choice this week
Dewsbury are making a quick return to west Cumbrians after losing 26-12 last Sunday against Workington Town at Derwent Park.
They had a number of players missing with injury for that game and look stronger for the Championship clash with seven changes to the 21-strong squad.
One new face in the squad is experienced winger Ben Blackmore, 29, who has most recently been with Featherstone.
In a ten year career he has played for Sheffield, Batley, Doncaster, Huddersfield and Castleford.
Rams coach Lee Greenwood said: “He’s a good signing for us. We’ve been after proven Championship or above quality players and he ticks all the boxes.
“Whenever I’ve watched him as an opposition coach he’s always been a handful, a really strong player who scores plenty of tries. He’s in his prime and can add an experienced voice in the dressing room.”
Blackmore was banned for 10 weeks last year as a Featherstone player after being found guilty of bringing the game into disrepute by posting a racist comment on social media referring to a former team-mate.
Whitehaven’s squad is: Aiye, Bishop, Bradley, Bulman, Cooper, Dawson, Dixon, Doyle, Evans, Graham, Holliday, King, Martin, McAvoy, Moore, Newton, Phillips, Taylor, Walker, Wilkinson, Williams.
The Dewsbury squad is: Annakin, Beckett, Beharrell, Blackmore, Butterworth, Carr, Dixon, Gabriel, Graham, Greensmith, Kidd, Knowles, Laulu-Togagae, Magrin, Milnes, Richards, Ryder, Schofield, Speakman, Sykes, Tomlinson.
