Aspatria’s quest for the Premier Division Championship remains on course earning another three points with a 3-1 home victory over Gosforth.

The St Mungo’s Park club’s goals were provided by regular scorer Andrew Trestianu along with two from Shaun Smith.  Gosforth replied through player/manager Jack Denwood.

Workington Athletic, currently in second position, dropped points when they travelled to take on Maryport Athletic and it ended in a 1-1 stalemate.

Ethan Weir scored the goal for the home side, while a strike from Greg Quayle earned the point for Workington.

There was a nine-goal thriller at Cockermouth with their fixture against Northbank ending 5-4 in the home side’s favour.

Northbank, who are fighting to retain their Premier Division status, took the game to the wire with goals from Matthew Travers and a Robbie Hall hat trick.  Mid-table Cockermouth claimed the victory with goals from Keith Skillen, Luke Graham, Luke Ivison and Mike Graham (2).

There were three games in the Divisional Cup with the closes being UniSun’s home clash with Mirehouse.

Both teams were missing several key players, however it was UniSun who came out on top with a 4-3 win.  UniSun’s goalswere  provided by David Barnes (2), David Nelson and Luke Ruddick.  A Kyle Bailiff double and a Ryan Mellon strike kept the result in doubt until the final whistle.

Whitehaven Miners switched their game with Cleator Moor Celtic Reserves to the artificial surface at Lakes College.  It proved to be a beneficial change as the Miners claimed a 5-0 victory with goals from Lewis Park (2), Jack Harrison (2) and Paul McNally.

Windscale Reserves agreed to switch their game with Whitehaven Amateurs Reserves to the County Ground due to a clash with the Wearside fixture at Egremont.

The Amateurs took full advantage easing to a 5-1 win.  Connor Edwards and Will Starkey notched two each with Ben Powell completing their tally.  Windscale’s youngsters replied with a solitary effort from Josh Brannon.

There were also two fixtures completed in the League’s premier knock-out competition, the Whitehaven Cup.

Cleator Moor Celtic Reserves travelled midweek to Gillford Park to take on the Carlisle City Development team.  It was Celtic who went into the hat for the next round claiming a 2-1 win.

Celtic’s James Bell and Jack Conway scored their goals with Nathan Johnstone responding for City.

In the other tie, Workington Reds Development overcame high flying Pirelli, the winners to entertain Mirehouse next week in the quarter final.

Robbie Savage (2) and Louis Webster guaranteed the Reds onward passage while Liam Delaney hit the back of the Workington net for Pirelli.
