One of Cumbria’s major music festivals has revealed the first acts who will take to its stages in 2022.
The Charlatans, Seasick Steve, Zutons and Ash are lined up to play Solfest and organisers of the event, near Silloth, are calling its most ambitious and exciting event in its history.
Also appearing are Pendulum, Orbital, Gentleman’s Dub Club, Dutty Moonshine Big Band, Rave Circus Unit Slamboree, Sugarhill Gang, Fruitbats, The Blue Stones, Buffalo Nichols and Baskery.
Jah Wobble brings his dubby bass sounds, Smoove and Turrell bringing northern soul and, celebrating his 80th birthday this year, psychedelic 60s legend Arthur Brown will be bringing his new show The Crazy World of Arthur Brown.
Tickets are on sale now and are once again expected to sell out its 10,000 capacity.
“This is our most ambitious and exciting event in the history of Solfest” said Sam Johnston, festival director.

“With the success of 2021 and the help that the Cultural Recovery fund provided, we have been able to expand our artistic offering many times over.
“We still have over 100 acts still to announce in the coming months, we are also able to confirm we have a new main stage to increase the audience’s enjoyment of the performances with increased production, bigger screens and outdoor lasers!
“No one can truly explain the feeling of true joy it was seeing so many happy dancing people come together after the COVID-19 pandemic especially after so much uncertainty that led up to it.”
