Both of West Cumbria’s National Conference Premier Division sides face tricky away games.
Wath Brow will be involved in the match of the day at Thatto Heath, the side which beat them in last season’s Grand Final.
Only three sides had won two out of two games following last week’s programme and the Crusaders and Hornets were two of them.
Wath Brow go into the contest top of the table with a plus 42 points differential, ahead of West Hull plus 38 and Thatto Heath plus 36.
Egremont are among six clubs who have won one game, and that’s also the case for tomorrow’s opponents Rochdale Mayfield.
The Gillfoot side got their points on the board with a fine 24-22 win at Pilkington Recs but this will be tougher.
Mayfield had beaten York Acorn 36-10 in the first match and recovered at West Hull from 32-6 down at half-time to win the second half 12-6.
In Division One Kells were wondering whether their game at Myton Warriors would go ahead.
The Warriors are also involved in the BARLA National Cup and face a semi-final tie against Waterhead Warriors.
They had asked for a postponement of the National Conference game but that fixture takes preference and Kells have not heard anything else on the matter.
Coach Peter Smith said: “We are travelling and looking forward to it. The forecast is good and we are feeling in good heart after our opening win on Saturday.”
The Whitehaven side beat West Bowling, one of the favourites for the Division Two title 28-14.
It promises to be a tight League because after the opening two games – Kells have only played once after the opener was postponed – just two sides, Oulton Raiders and Skirlaugh have 100 per cent records.
Barrow Island got off the mark in Division Two with a 30-22 win over Hunslet Warriors and have a good chance of following-up at Bradford Dudley who have lost both games so far.
In Division Three there’s big Cumbrian interest in the match of the day – East Leeds v Seaton Rangers, two of the three 100 per cent teams after two fixtures.
League newcomers Seaton have made a brilliant start with victories over Eastmoor Dragons and local rivals Hensingham. But this is their biggest test so far.
East Leeds have rattled up 114 points in their two games so far and only conceded 14.
There is something of a form guide. Whereas Seaton beat Eastmoor 42-0, East Leeds beat them 66-4 last Saturday.
Hensingham are on the road to Waterhead Warriors, who are also of course involved in BARLA National Cup semi-final action at home to Myton Warriors.
Millom felt the force of the Waterhead side last week, losing 46-8 at home last week ands they follow up, again at home, looking to earn that first win against Oldham St Annes.
