Firefighters spent hours tacking a wildfire in South Cumbria.
Just before 6pm yesterday, Saturday, March 19, Sedbergh’s specialist wildfire team was mobilised to a wildfire just off the A590 near Newby Bridge.
The fellside was well alight and crews were initially deployed to attack the flanks and prevent the fire spreading to woodlands and continued to fight the fire for a number of hours.
Specialist teams from across the county were also called to tackle the blaze
The A590 was closed for a period of time due to safety concerns.
In attendance were a number of crews, specialist teams and officers from across the county.
A spokesman for Sedbergh Fire Station said: “We would like to thank all members of the public who raised the alarm and the local landowners for their assistance.”
