Carlisle Cathedral will host family-friendly events over the Easter holidays as part of its 900th anniversary celebrations.
The activities and all-age worship are part of the cathedral’s Holy Week and Easter programme of worship and events.
Activities include Easter Felting workshops; plant and paint sessions and Illuminating Art workshops where participants can draw inspiration from Medieval manuscripts to create their own artwork using watercolours.
On Good Friday, a Love Unstoppable event will be held in the Cathedral grounds from 10.30am where families are invited to join in with arts and crafts, and songs and prayers inspired by the Easter story, while on Easter Sunday the cathedral’s regular All Ages service in the Fratry Hall will be a special Easter celebration.
The Revd Canon Michael Manley, who is Canon Missioner at Carlisle Cathedral, said: “Easter is a very special time at the Cathedral, and our family-friendly events, worship and activities are an important part of our celebrations.
“Our family-friendly worship includes arts and crafts, games, videos, singing and prayers in a relaxed, informal atmosphere which makes it fun and engaging for children and adults.
“With the past two Easter celebrations being affected by the pandemic, we are very much looking forward to welcoming people back to the Cathedral this year for our services and activities.”
Carlisle Cathedral is holding a programme of events throughout 2022 to mark 900 years since its foundation.
