JJ’s B overcome their club compatriots JJ’s A 7-2 to celebrate their first championship in the Workington Pool League.
The team has been in great form all season, ensuring the tight games went their way, which gave them a 13 game winning streak to put distance against their rivals.
On this particular night, it was the B team’s single frame dominance as Ben Scott, Dan Long, Paul Vickers, Michael Craig and Geoff Banton registered victories, but it was fitting the league winning frame was provided by JJ’s B captain Martyn Fisher.
Station Road D continued their impressive form to remain second as they thrashed Station Road B 8-1.
Senhouse Street’s Mark Robertson’s break clearance in the third frame helped his team reel off a five-frame winning run to give them a 7-2 win over the Grapes.
Harrington Legion’s relegation battle got a huge boost away at Packhorse A after the hosts had taken a 3-1 lead.
The match flipped on its head when Stephen Buchanan began the fight-back which eventually saw the Legion side win 5-4 and close the gap to maintain their A league status.
The Vets also overcame a 3-1 deficit as they defeated Station Rd C 5-4.
In the B league, promotion-chasing Grapes A took on Lifeboat A and went into a 4-2 lead after the singles frame. That teed-up Ian Carter and Rodger Denwood to secure the 7-2 win.
Don Petre secured both his frames which helped give Railway club a 6-3 victory to leapfrog their opponents the Miners.
Finally Skinny Jimmy’s last frame decider against Lifeboat B went their way for a 5-4 which lifted them up to seventh.
