Whitehaven have been crippled with injuries and could lose two players for the rest of the season.
New Aussie star Alex Bishop and Millom-based James Newton have both received news that they face long spells on the side-lines.
Chris Taylor, Liam Cooper and Tom Wilkinson are all recovering from injuries which could see them out of action for several weeks.
Haven, who travel to Halifax this Sunday for a Betfred Championship fixture, are down to the bare 17 players.
Head coach Jonty Gorley said: “It was such a brilliant occasion on Saturday against St Helens, enjoyed by everyone, these injuries have taken-off the gloss.
“I couldn’t be;ieve it when I took calls on successive days from Alex and Newts to tell me they could be out for the season with knee injuries.
“In Alex’s case it was just as the hooter was sounding and he was involved in a clash of knees. It looks like a serious kneecap injury and I’m absolutely gutted for him.
“I don’t think I will answer my phone for the rest of the week!
To add to Gorley’s player absences prop Tom Walker is on a pre-booked family celebration.
He had been hoping to help boost numbers by adding two loan players from Super League but that hasn’t happened yet.
“It looked as though two lads were going to join us at training but their club then suffered injuries and suspensions at the weekend so we won’t be getting them.
“I can understand clubs, whoever they are, have got to think of themselves first so we just have to keep trying and hopefully we might get a couple of loan players in and registered in time.
“At the end of the day I only need 17 on Sunday and I have 17 fit players. So I won’t be making excuses and I know that those lads will go out and do the job to the best of their ability.
“Really, though, I’m gutted for the lads with the long-term injuries.”
Cooper was stretchered off with a neck injury against St Helens and Wilkinson had to go off soon afterwards with a shoulder injury.
Although Cooper’s looked the worst, he could be back in around four weeks while Wilkinson could have six weeks on the sidelines.
Long-serving Taylor also has a shoulder injury and he is currently looking at six to eight weeks out of action.
