People being offered the chance to make a will in return for a donation to Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice.
The charity’s Make a Will Month starts tomorrow and people can visit a participating solicitor to help back the charity.
It is up to each individual how much to donate but as a guide the charity suggests £130 for a single basic will, £200 for a pair of basic mirror wills and £40 for a codicil.
Gifts in wills, often referred to as legacies, are important to the hospice and are a major source of income for the charity each year.
In 2020, 32 per cent of the charity’s income came from gifts in wills.
Clare Sweeney, the charity’s interim individual giving and legacies manager, said: “This is your opportunity to secure your family’s future whilst also helping the incredible team here at the hospice to continue to provide care, love and support to adults and young people with life limiting illnesses in our community. No matter how large or small your gift is, it will help support local people with life limiting illnesses.
“We’d like to thank all the solicitors who are taking part this year, without whom important initiatives like this could not happen.”
