Volunteers from Barrow RNLI were called out to help search for a missing person.
The crew were called at around 3.50pm n Wednesday, March 30, to help search for the person in the Roosecote Sands area after Cumbria police raised concerns for the welfare of a person who was believed to have walked from the Cavendish Dock area of Barrow out on to the sands.
Inshore lifeboat Vision of Tamworth was launched at 4.15pm with Ben Jackson at the helm, assisted by Andy Baxter and Paul Wilcock.
As the lifeboat was launched, it was reported that there had been a sighting of someone fitting the missing person’s description on Foulney Island.
The lifeboat was tasked with making the short passage across to Foulney and monitoring the position of the person while police, North West Ambulance Service, Furness Coastguard and Ulverston Inshore Rescue approached the casualty to provide care and support.
With a successful conclusion to another multi-agency incident, the lifeboat returned to the boathouse at 4.38pm where it was rehoused and made ready for the next launch.
