Barrow Raiders have signed the Salford Red Devils full-back Morgan Escare on a short-term loan deal.

The 30-year-old French international will be in the Barrow squad for Sunday’s tough-looking home clash with Batley Bulldogs.

His switch to south Cumbria comes after a short two-week loan stint with Wakefield Trinity, scoring in their recent 38-22 victory over Warrington Wolves.

Escare has a top class pedigree having started in his native Frsnmce with Catalan Dragons in 2013 and playing 91 games over four season, scoring 65 tries.

He then had a similar stint with Wigan Warriors which yielded 22 tries and 49 goals in 77 appearances.

Short loan spells have followed, either side of a permanent move to Salford where he played five senior Super League games last season.

At international level Escare has scored six tries in 11 appearances for his country, and the loan at Barrow will see him link up with good friend and international team-mate Hakim Miloudi, who has been a shining light for the Raiders in 2022.

He said: “I’ve been with Wakefield for the last two weeks, and I enjoyed playing games there. This weekend, I’ve come to Barrow and I’m going to enjoy my time at the club.

“I watch all of the Barrow games, and they’re a very good team. I’ll give the best of myself to Barrow and enjoy the game.

“Hakim is a friend, and I’m going to enjoy playing with him on Sunday.”

Barrow head coach Paul Crarey said: “We have a few players feeling knocks and nursing injuries and we don’t want to risk playing anyone when they are not fully fit.

“We have a very good relationship with Salford and delighted that they have been able to help us out this weekend.”
