Kendal Town Council has taken advantage of the government’s Welcome Back funding to deliver improvements to Woolpack Yard in Kendal.
Six shrubs have been installed in wooden tubs along the length of the yard to encourage shoppers to explore the businesses located on and beyond the yard.
The new planting complements a new sign which highlights Woolpack Yard businesses. The sign also directs visitors to Nobles Rest via the path behind Marks &
Spencer’s to help increase awareness of the green spaces in the town.

The town council have also installed a bin storage area and together with other tiers of local authority, put pressure on landlords to renovate exterior walls.
Local business owner, Joan Lind from Trybooking, said: “Trybooking.com has had its head office in Woolpack Yard since 2015. The ongoing improvements are
very much liked from building upgrades to signage. The recent addition of the plant pots is very attractive and welcoming and we were delighted when they arrived.”
Marriane Woodend, owner of Bakery No4, said: “It looks really nice, makes the yard more inviting and highlights the range of independent businesses in Woolpack Yard.”
