Wath Brow have a great opportunity to bounce back from last week’s disappointment of losing their first game of the season.
The Hornets lost in controversial circumstances at Siddal 24-16 but return to home soil tomorrow against bottom-of-the-table York Acorn.
Having said that, Wath Brow are well aware that York’s only point so far was obtained against new leaders West Hull, the only point the Humbersiders have dropped.
Controversy surrounded by a red card for Cole Walker-Taylor at Siddal – shown after he was said to have returned from a sin-binning too soon!
A Wath Brow fightback was not quite enough but the 12 men put up a fine effort in adversity to run their hosts so close.
Acorn lost 18-10 last week in a bottom-of-the-table battle at home to Thornhill Trojans.
Egremont
That was Thornhill’s first win and tomorrow they will be keen to follow up at home to Egremont after the Rangers crashed 52-0 at home to table-toppers West Hull.
Outclassed on that occasion, beaten by half-time as they trailed 36-0, the coaching staff will be expecting a big improvement against the Dewsbury side who are coached by the former York City Knights and Hunslet half-back Danny Ratcliffe.
He ended up at Thornhill as club captain but had to retire with a shoulder injury and was appointed coach in November 2019, taking over from his uncle James Ratcliffe.
Kells
In Division Two there’s a trip to Ince Rose Bridge in prospect for Kells which will be a contest between third and fifth.
Coach Peter Smith saw his side see off leaders Oulton Raiders last week by 38-18, an encouraging performance and result ahead of what will almost certainly be a tight contest against the Wigan side.
Barrow Island
Barrow Island share the lead in League Two with them lying third on points differential, but they face a testing trip to Woolston Rovers who are in fifth.
Millom
In Division Three there’s an opportunity for Millom to move further up the table from their current next-to-bottom slot.
They host the only team below them, Eastmoor Dragons, who earned their first point of the season last week in a 16-16 draw at Bentley. Millom had lost 70-34 at Drighlington.
Hensingham
Hensingham are only ahead of Millom on points differential but will be hopeful of recording their second win of the season at home to Shaw Cross Sharks, beaten 40-14 at home to Waterhead Warriors last week.
Seaton Rangers
Seaton Rangers have no game tomorrow as scheduled opponents Drighlington asked them to re-arrange it for June and the Cumbrians agreed.
