Sunday League football has suffered recently through falling numbers, common to a number of other team sports.
But the Workington and District Sunday League secretary has been encouraged by what he saw this week – albeit the games were on Wednesday.
He was at Curwen Park in Workington to watch the two mid-week games and was suitably impressed.
“Some peoples are saying to me that Sunday League football is dying. I know it was a Wednesday night but both Man City and Liverpool were on television and there must have been over 200 people watching both games.
“Apart from that it was nice to meet some old faces who I had played with, and against, and also refereed a few as well,” he said.
