Barrow coach Paul Crarey is looking for redemption from his team when they make a return trip to Yorkshire at the weekend.
The Raiders suffered a crushing 58-6 defeat at Championship leaders Featherstone on Good Friday and visit Halifax on Sunday.
The Raiders were suffering their first away defeat of the season as Featherstone ran in 10 tries at the Millennium Stadium and Crarey acknowledged his side didn’t have enough on the day to compete.
Halifax are on a three-game winning streak following a dramatic 20-17 victory at Bradford Bulls last time out and Crarey acknowledges it will be a tough test away from home.
“I’m backing our players to recover quickly following Friday’s defeat. We just need that rest this week leading up to the Halifax game.
“The five-day turnaround was going to be pretty short for us when Featherstone had 10 days rest, but having said that, we were starved of possession.
“Featherstone did a number on us; they starved us of possession, were clinical, and showed really good discipline.
“I think we had 17 sets to 22 in the first, and in the second half we only had 14 sets to 20.
“They had a mountain of possession, and it’s very difficult to stop with the quality that they have in their side.
“I said to the fellas in there, ‘if you’re going to have an off day, let’s have it here’.
“You’re going to get that kind of result a little bit in this league, especially when you’re undercooked and playing the top teams away from home on that short turnaround.”
Halifax have already won impressively at Workington and came from behind at home to Whitehaven to win well, so are looking for a treble over Cumbrian opposition.
