Barrow slumped to a successive defeat in Yorkshire when they lost 40-18 at Halifax.

Already with victories over Whitehaven and Workington, the Panthers made it a Cumbrian treble with an impressive performance.

They had scored a fine opening try on ten minutes when Dan Murray burst through before sending former Haven half-back Louis Jouffret diving over. Keyes added the conversion from in front of the posts.

Three minutes later they went over again when a quick play the ball allowed Adam Tangata to drive over beside the posts for Keyes to converted.

Barrow shaped better after those two set-backs and on 24 minutes Jarrod Sammut put Tee Ritson over in the corner for an unconverted try.

But a mistake by the Raiders presented Halifax with their third try four minutes later. Keyes and Jouffret linked up well to put Joe Arundel in at the corner.

Although Halifax were playing some attractive rugby it was Barrow who nearly scored next. The wily Sammut jinked through but as he dived in he couldn’t get the ball down.

But soon afterwards Sammut was stretchered off when he went down heavily after a strong hit from two Halifax forwards.

There was a long delay while he was attended to and then carried off and when play resumed it was Barrow who went over.

Jarrad Stack appeared from nowhere on last tackle to drive through a gap in the Halifax defence and score.

Unfortunately it was Halifax who scored the last try of the half when former Whitehaven winger Lachlan Walmsley flew over in the corner.

So there was plenty of work for Barrow in the second half as they trailed 20-8 at the break.

Four minutes after the re-start Walmsley scored his second. Woodburn-Hall sliced through, found Arundel and he put Walmsley in for the try which went unconverted.

On 50 minutes Halifax scored again, a lovely try as Keyes put Woodburn-Hall away and he found Kyle Wood in support to score with Keyes converting.

They were almost over immediately but Jouffret put a foot in touch as he went in at the corner.

On 54 minutes Halifax extended their lead when centre  Zack McComb was sent through after great play by Jouffret and Saltonstall.

It was against the run of play when Barrow got on the scoreboard through Josh Wood and Jake Carter converted.

Barrow scored again on 64 minutes when Luke Cresswell battled through a couple of tackles to get the try which Carter converted.

But it was  Halifax who had the final word on 74 minutes when McComb charged over for his second try which Keyes converted.
